

The Australian Stroke Clinical Registry (AuSCR) Annual Report for 2021 is now available – click here. The data presented in this report provide insights into the care provided to 19,753 patients with stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA) at 62 participating hospitals in 2021, as well as follow-up information collected three to six months post-discharge.
Key findings from this report were:
- Stroke unit care for stroke patients remained stable at 77%.
- Thrombolysis rates remained stable at 11%, with less than one in three patients receiving this treatment in under 60 minutes.
- Women are less likely to receive a number of indicators of quality stroke care, including care in a stroke unit and secondary prevention medications.
