Migration

When will the AHDaPt go live?

AHDaPt will go live following a short data pause where data from the AuSDaT will be migrated to AHDaPt.  We expect the AHDaPt will go live during the week commencing 27 July 2026.

How will I be notified about my new log in details for AHDaPt?

All current AuSDaT users, along with any new users requested through the recent AuSDaT user account review, will receive an email invitation with instructions on how to activate their AHDaPt account.

Will all AuSCR data be migrated from AuSDaT to AHDaPt?

Most AuSCR data from AuSDaT will be migrated to AHDaPt, except for variables that are not part of the new AuSCR minimum dataset.  A list of these fields can be found in Appendix A of the AHDaPt Implementation plan (link above).  We therefore recommend each site save a copy of their local data prior to transition.

What is the best method to save local data prior to the data migration period?

The AuSCR team have circulated a fact sheet with detailed steps on how to extract and save local data prior to the data migration period (link above).

Your data will be exported into a CSV file which can be opened in Microsoft Excel or other compatible software for analysis.  Once you have exported your data, you must follow your hospital policies on the handling and storage of identifiable health data (e.g. data should not be saved on a personal computer or USB and may need to be password protected for re-opening).

Is it compulsory to save local data prior to the migration period?

It is strongly recommended that all sites save local data before 17 July 2026.  After this date, most data will remain available in AHDaPt; however, data from retired variables will not be migrated to AHDaPt and will only be accessible in read-only format within AuSDaT until the system is decommissioned in early 2027.

Data capture

How do sites enter data into AHDaPt?

Initially, there will be three methods for entering data into AHDaPt:

  • Manual data entry directly into AHDaPt.
  • Hospital import provided to AuSCR team via SharePoint and AuSCR team to import into AHDaPt.
  • Hospitals with existing API integration capabilities will be able to connect with AHDaPt via API.

We recognise that hospitals currently importing data into AuSDaT may require time to transition to the new AHDaPt import template. To support this process, the AuSCR team can assist by converting existing hospital data extracts into the new AHDaPt format and uploading the data on the site’s behalf.

Will sites be able to import bulk uploads into AHDaPt?

At go-live, the ability for sites to upload imports directly into AHDaPt will be disabled. During this transition period, all bulk uploads will be managed by the AuSCR team.

Following go-live, and once import processes have been successfully tested and validated, a fourth method of data entry will become available:

  • Direct hospital bulk uploads into AHDaPt using the approved AHDaPt import template.

This phased approach will help ensure a smooth and accurate transition to the new platform while maintaining data quality and consistency

Will hospitals be able to see episodes on other hospitals?

No.  Individual hospitals will only be able to view episodes recorded at their own site.  They will not be able to see episodes entered by other hospitals.

However, AHDaPt will automatically link relevant episodes to better capture the patient journey and streamline reporting.  Patient reported outcome information will be visible to each hospital that provided care to the patient for an episode.

Can sites edit their organisational survey throughout the year?

Sites will be asked to complete their organisational survey when they activate their AHDaPt account.  They will then be asked to review and update their organisational survey annually.

The organisational survey is generally locked by the AuSCR team and is not available for editing throughout the year.  However, if a site needs to update its survey information outside the annual review period, it can contact the AuSCR team, who can temporarily unlock the survey to allow changes to be made.

General

What is the difference between AuSCR, AuSDaT and AHDaPt

  • The AuSCR (Australian Stroke Clinical Registry) collects and reports information about stroke care and outcomes to support quality improvement and research.
  • AuSDaT (Australian Stroke Data Tool) is the current database system used by AuSCR sites to enter, store and manage registry data.
  • AHDaPt (Adaptive Health Data Platform) is the new data platform that will replace AuSDaT.  It will be used by AuSCR and other participating programs to collect, store, manage, link, report on, and analyse data.

Dashboards

Will I still be able to use the dashboards?

Current dashboards (available here: Quick Sign-In) will continue to be available but will draw from data entered into the AuSDaT only.

Dashboards will be integrated into AHDaPt and released between July and December 2026, as our team remap these to the new variables.

Minimum dataset

Will palliative care be a reason for not being admitted to a Stroke Unit?

One reason for not being admitted to a stroke unit is ‘competing clinical specialty needs’ which can be selected if a patient is admitted directly to palliative care.

We will also capture commencement date for palliative goals of care/end of life care to account for this during analysis.
